August

We have been enjoying the hot August weather by visiting Busch Gardens, hanging out with the Pattersons, and a visit to Tutu's. Joey worked 12 hour shifts 13 days in a row for the RNC while we prepared for Tropical Storm Isaac (which ended up heading farther west than predicted and just gave us some wind and rain).

Malia turned 2 months old on the 7th. She weighed 11 lbs 8 oz and is 22 inches long. She is getting on a schedule and is such a happy girl. She lets us know if she is hungry or tired and other than that is busy smiling and "talking" to us.

Koa hit a big milestone this month. He is now (pretty much) potty trained! He does a good job of telling us when he has to go whether we are at the house, Busch Gardens, church, or a restaurant. We are so proud of him! He is talking ALL the time and adding new words to his vocabulary daily.

Here's our August in pictures (and videos)....

Patio Picnic

Getting a "special treat" at our favorite frozen yogurt place!

Finally made my drapes (thanks for the help, mom)! Koa loves playing behind them with his Mickey Mouse friends!

After church :)

Koa was so sweet and gently rocking her and talking to her...she watches her brother all the time!
 Busch Garden Fun
Best buds ready for some fun!

Malia taking a quick nap.

Really? "Keep head above sand?" Do ostriches play in the sand pit?

I see  shoe rack...Koa sees Mickey Mouse! Ha!

Well, it's hot out here! Staying cool in my shade.

It' raining and we are paiently waiting for the "Elmo show" to start. We ended up leaving before it started because they kept delaying the start. Good thing we did...it POURED on us the entire drive home. Coulda been bad for the walk to the car if we had waited any longer!!

I love this picture of Koa and Malia. Koa doesn't ask to hold her nearly as much as he did in the beginning. Now, when he does, he says, "too big" and doesn't want to hold her. Guess she is growing fast!

Daddy getting some nap time with his kiddos.

Here are some pictures from Joey's busy days during the RNC.

Derek Jeter's house

Apparently the boat belongs to the guy who came up with the rewards programs for credit cards.

Looks like fun!
What we did during the RNC:

Malia Chats it UP!

Oops-a-daisy (Koa has started saying this when he drops something or falls down...gets it from me!)

nap time in her crib :)

Koa pointed to these pants and said, "whoa mom, whoa!"
Busch Gardens: Just Mommy, Koa, and Malia
We actually got to see Elmo and his friends...Koa LOVED it! The Sesame Street splash area was closed, so we ventured out and actually looked at everything else the park has to offer (we have always stayed in the Sesame Street area).

Koa loved looking at all of the animals!
We found another fountain area where he ran around and cooled off!

Looking at the fish.

Koa completely surprised me when we found this ride that he could go on by himself and he said he wanted to go on it.

Yep, that's my big boy way up there! He loved it!

And Malia was a happy girl the entire time...ate, napped, and just hung out!

Koa knew all of his animals except this one...he said it was a puppy dog. That would be Kimo's fault since he is always laying like this!

Malia getting some floor time.

Tummy time that turned into...

PUSH UPS!

He cracks me up...put his hat on by himself and grabbed his computer to do a little work.
 Pool Time with Tutu
Happy Girl!

Water front dining!

Koa's favorite part was blowing bubbles with Tutu.

Pool side nap in her "my dad can arrest your dad" onesie!

Little Diva lounging!

More Malia talking...

Since Joey was working, I managed to attempt to "hurricane prepare" our house during nap time. I was able to mow the yard since the expected rain would make mowing difficult for quite a while, trim the bushes, and bring all of the backyard toys in. The pool doubled as patio furniture rain protection! :) I also filled the tank in case we needed to evacuate (and for increasing gas prices due to the storm). And.....then it just rained for a night with a little wind! :) Oh well, at least the yard work it done! :)
Malia is doing dishes with her mama (she's holding a spoon).

And more Malia talking...she has a lot to say!

Koa put his ears on to watch a Disney movie! He cracks me up!

I let Koa go outside even though it was sprinkling. He grabbed his umbrella that goes to his water table and took it outside...silly boy!

We started up our 2 year old curriculum again now that it's aligned with the school year...here Koa is playing a game where he takes a sponge full of water up the ladder and squeezes the water on the fire to "put it out." By the time he finished, he had almost erased the chalk drawing of the fire.

Malia watching the 6:00 am news with her friend.

I made Koa number cards that go along with Genesis 1:1 and creation. (Another part of the curriculum)

Attempting to go for walks...trying to keep the bugs away!

Malia sitting in her stroller like a big girl...she loves it!
Kimo and Naia love going for walks again!

Staying hydrated!

We went for a mall walk and discovered the the perimeter of the mall is exactly one mile. We also got our new game day shirts for football season!

Malia even took her first stroller nap without her carseat! Yay!
My favorite: Malia's first laugh!

We are ready...flag is flying and the FSU wreath I made for the door is up!

And here is Malia's game day outfit I made her...I especially love her little headband! :) Go Noles!
