August Road Trip 2: The Crush Games

Here are some pictures from our short time at home in between August trips!

Koa put his hat on and asked me to take his picture...cracked me up that he didn't smile.

Found her...with the ipad! I think she learned from her brother!

Our painted lady caterpillars arrived in the mail!

Stretching with Daddy.

Backyard fun time!

Koa loved spraying Malia and she loved it too!
Joey competed in the largest competition yet in Sunrise, FL. We loaded in the truck again and drove the 3+ hours to the east coast.

Waiting on Daddy and Koa to check into the hotel...she was so happy to be out of her carseat!

Kimo and Naia were checking out all of the dogs being walked at the hotel.

Event Site

A lot going on...

Hanging out in the stands...with no stroller.

WOD (workout of the day) 1 & 2

Max clean immediately followed by 6,000 lbs from shoulder to overhead (115 lb. 53 times). Joey had an impressive 300 lb. clean PR and then was able to complete all 53 reps unbroken!

 WOD 2: 6,000 lbs. overhead

The kids look thrilled, don't they?! :)

Joey had extra time after he finished so, he went to encourage other athletes...something I love about the crossfit community!

The kids favorite part of the day!

Good job, Dada! We took the escalator up!

Hotel room fun!

Nap time!

WOD 3 & 4

A bunch of rope climbs and snatches followed by a gazillion handstand pushups, box jumps, wall balls and more handstand pushups!

WOD 4

Taking a break before the last workout!

Daddy's warming up for WOD 5 and I'm wrangling toddlers in the stands!

Happiness is having both kids close enough together to take a picture!

I gave her a bunch of fruit to keep her in one seat while we cheered for Joey!
WOD 5: 3 rounds of 500 m row, 16 pistols (one legged squats), balance beam walk, 16 toes to bar, 2 muscle ups

Little Video Montage of WOD 5

Some Priceless Giggles

Joey did awesome! We really enjoyed watching him...he motivates me to push myself, that's for sure!

This girl is a monkey...at home and at the hotel!
We went back Saturday to watch the second half of the athletes compete and wait and see if Joey would be in the top 32 to advance to the bracket portion of the competition on Sunday.
She sure did do a good job of grabbing naps when she could! It was so loud, but she napped for a long time!

Here, brother!

At dinner...Koa took this picture. :)

Just like his daddy!
Joey finished 35th...so close! Back to the training schedule to get ready for the next competition in September...at least this one is local! And it's another father-son competition...looking forward to seeing Grandpa and cheering them both on!

Building blocks...one of their favorite things to do together!

Koa is cutting up old coupon inserts and "making a parade." I guess he's ready to go back to Disney and see a parade with confetti!

Doodle slept through the entire workout...I think she was still recovering from our trip!

Those caterpillars ate a lot while we were gone and grew like crazy!

I made Malia her first game day skirt of the season...she was trying it on, but wouldn't stand still for a picture. It's hilarious to run from Mommy and the camera! Grrr. :)

And I found her reading in her room (she and brother had been reading LOTS of books).

Mashin' on the foam roller...and THAT'S why she needs the bloomers! :)

More block building...I love watching them play TOGETHER.

Hmmm...this can't be good. Not sure how she managed that one!

I was needing some more "crossfit" shorts, so I got creative!

I made a pattern off of a pair I have, made a practice pair on some random fabric, and then cut apart these awesome running shorts and used the spandex liner to make the waistband. I'm pretty excited to wear them and try them out!

Yum...cheerios!

WOD for the day was a 5k, so we ran to the park and back. Kids enjoyed running around (and I enjoyed the half way break)!

She cracks me up.

Koa said he was working out.
 Story Time

So, Koa wanted to ride his bike. He made it a lap around the circle and that's usually far enough for him. But this time, he was really doing awesome...steering and pedaling better than he ever has. So, we decided to go again. After the second lap, we continued around the corner. He gets off his bike (which he does every so often to check something) and this time I ask him if he's doing okay. He says, "Not really. I think I need to go home and get a drink." His matter of fact answer makes me laugh on the inside and so we decide he will push Malia and I will walk his bike back home. I hear him say, "Home sweet home" as he's walking. I ask him where he heard that as it's the first time I've ever heard him use that phrase, and he says, "I have no idea." His phrases that he uses right now crack me up!
Came in from bike riding to go potty. Apparently he got side tracked. This is how I found him...reading a book to his cat. (Note the undies around the ankles.)

Note the undies around the head (and the hat behind her...simple mix-up, right?!) I'm just impressed that she did that all by herself!

Woohoo! FINALLY! College football season!!!
Busch Gardens (from today--woohoo! It's doesn't get anymore caught up than this!)
Malia can ride some of the kiddie rides now that she walks!

Koa and Malia on the swings. She turned around to look at her brother the whole time...and had a smile on her face!

Koa and Layla enjoyed the otters (and spending the day together)!
Busch Gardens has a vet clinic that you can observe. Koa told me he wanted to go in there before we even got to it. Then he told me he wants to be a vet. I don't doubt it the way he loves his stuffed animals and any animal/bug he comes into contact with! :)
We got to see the end of a vet procedure. This poor sandhill crane had a deformed leg and they surgically broke it's leg to fix it. We got there in time to see it come out of anesthesia.

Before x-rays

After x-rays

They love their bath time!

Koa and I watched 101 Dalmations...with his "friends" while daddy was working.
